The lawmaker representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “dead” in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State following the defection of over 1,500 of its members to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Oseni made the declaration on Sunday during a grand reception organised by the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) to officially welcome the new members from all ten wards of Ido Local Government into the APC family.

The colourful event, held at his constituency office in Ologuneru, Ibadan, witnessed a massive turnout of party faithful, community leaders, and political stakeholders, who praised the lawmaker for his inclusive leadership, effective grassroots mobilisation, and commitment to unity within the APC.

Prominent among the defectors were Alhaji Bolaji Nureni Adeoye, Alhaji Akande, Alhaji Rasaki Elewedu, Alhaji Kasali Akande, Alhaji Dauda Afolabi, Hon. Wasiu Ijaoye, Adekola Kasumu, Nureni Adeyeri, Hon. Busari Kolawole, Elder Ogunleye, and Alhaji Lateef Lawal, among others.

In his remarks, Hon. Oseni described the mass defection as the political burial of the PDP in Ido Local Government, symbolising the complete dominance of the APC in the area.

“What we are witnessing today marks the political burial of the PDP in Ido,” Oseni said. “Today is Sunday a holy day and it means God Himself is pleased with what we are doing here.”

The federal lawmaker noted that the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) has grown into a formidable political force within the APC, driving grassroots mobilisation not only across the Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency but throughout Oyo State.

“ROCOF is a moving train in Nigeria’s political history,” the APC chieftain declared. “It is unstoppable. Our mission is clear come 2027, the APC will reclaim Oyo State and ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Hon. Oseni attributed the rising strength of the APC in his constituency to both the people-oriented policies of President Tinubu’s administration and his own legislative interventions at the grassroots level.

“The APC-led Federal Government under President Tinubu has performed creditably well. We, as representatives of the people, are complementing those efforts at our level,” he said.

He assured the new entrants of full integration and equal opportunities within the APC structure, emphasizing that they were not strangers in the party and would soon be formally introduced to the party leadership.

“Today, I welcome over 1,500 PDP members to the APC through ROCOF. You are not strangers here; you are home,” Oseni affirmed.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Bolaji Adeoye explained that their decision to leave the PDP was motivated by Hon. Oseni’s credible leadership and result-driven representation.

“We are not decampees; we are returnees. We have always been with Hon. Remi Oseni,” Adeoye said. “He is a record breaker and a true representative of the people. I don’t want to remember the PDP in my life again.”

Other leaders at the event pledged to mobilise more supporters into the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing Hon. Oseni as a promise keeper who has redefined political representation with visible and impactful results.

Earlier, Alhaji Hakeem Okedina, Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker, commended the courage and unity of purpose demonstrated by the defectors, noting that their action reflects the ongoing political realignment sweeping through Oyo State.

The event concluded with renewed enthusiasm and commitment among party members, reinforcing the APC’s growing influence in Ido Local Government and beyond.

Hon. Aderemi Oseni Backs President Tinubu for Second Term, Commends Bold Economic and Social Reforms

The Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves a second term in 2027, citing the administration’s bold economic and social reforms that are beginning to yield visible and positive outcomes.

Hon. Oseni made the statement on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) General Meeting held in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The lawmaker commended President Tinubu’s transformative policies, describing them as key drivers in reshaping Nigeria’s economic landscape and restoring confidence in the nation’s growth trajectory.

According to him, one of the administration’s most remarkable achievements is the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has expanded access to higher education for thousands of students from low-income families.

“President Tinubu’s NELFUND scheme has given renewed hope to young Nigerians who once believed tertiary education was beyond their reach,” Oseni said. “It is a bold, inclusive policy that demonstrates the President’s commitment to equal opportunity and social justice.”

He further applauded the administration’s economic reforms, noting that they are gradually stabilising the naira and restoring investor confidence.

“We are witnessing steady improvements in the exchange rate and other key economic indicators,” he said. “These gains are the outcome of deliberate, well-structured policies targeted at sustainable recovery and national growth.”

The lawmaker also highlighted the implementation of his Cancer Dialysis Subsidy Bill, describing it as a testament to the Tinubu administration’s people-centered approach to governance.

“With the President’s support, dialysis for cancer patients is now free or heavily subsidised in government hospitals. This underscores the administration’s genuine concern for the welfare and health of Nigerians, beyond infrastructure development,” he noted.

Hon. Oseni further commended the government’s tax and fiscal reforms, which, he said, have increased allocations to states and local governments, empowering them to execute more developmental projects.

“These reforms have enhanced the financial capacity of the states, leading to visible improvements in service delivery at all levels,” he added.

While acknowledging the economic challenges currently faced by Nigerians, the FERMA Committee Chairman urged citizens to remain patient and optimistic, assuring that the benefits of the ongoing reforms will become more evident in the near future.

“Every reform phase comes with temporary discomforts,” Oseni said. “However, it is clear that Nigeria is on a path of gradual stabilization. President Tinubu has a clear vision, and continuity is essential to consolidate the gains already made.”

He also charged APC members and stakeholders across Oyo State to intensify mobilisation efforts for the ongoing voter registration exercise, setting a target of one million votes for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“We must all take part. The only way to ensure victory for the President and reclaim Oyo State is through unity, commitment, and active participation in the voter registration process,” he stated.

The meeting, which had in attendance the APC Leader in Ido Local Government, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe, alongside party leaders, stakeholders, and members, concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and an endorsement of his 2027 re-election bid.

Tinubu’s Road Revolution Visible Nationwide, Opposition Blind to Progress — FERMA Chair, Oseni

Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and representative for Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Engineer Aderemi Oseni, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its steadfast commitment to infrastructural development, particularly in the area of road rehabilitation and reconstruction across Nigeria.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos on Thursday, Oseni characterized the president’s investment in the nation’s road networks as a strategic initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria’s transportation infrastructure and bolstering economic growth. Drawing from his extensive travels nationwide in his supervisory capacity at FERMA, he attested to the tangible progress achieved under the current administration.

“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying a solid foundation for a redefined Nigeria poised to lead Africa’s future,” Oseni stated. “We have witnessed substantial rehabilitation and reconstruction of federal roads across both the northern and southern regions, including major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the Ibadan-Ilesha-Akure-Benin Highway.”

He further noted that enhanced operational efficiency and increased budgetary allocations have empowered FERMA to effectively tackle Nigeria’s longstanding road infrastructure challenges. “These efforts underscore the administration’s firm belief that an efficient transportation system is the cornerstone of a thriving economy,” he added.

While acknowledging these achievements, Oseni expressed concern that opposition parties have overlooked the progress under President Tinubu’s government. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against forces that may seek to undermine these developments. Additionally, he announced the formation of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), a non-partisan and non-ethnic platform dedicated to rallying support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

According to Oseni, ROCOF currently boasts over 200,000 members across Oyo State, all committed to advancing good governance, justice, and sustainable development. “Our goal in the South-West region is to achieve a voter turnout of at least 75 percent and to ensure the APC secures no fewer than 10 million votes in the forthcoming presidential election,” he affirmed.

He also highlighted the critical importance of continuous voter registration and civic education, aiming to improve upon the 26.72 percent voter turnout recorded in the 2023 general elections. “Our journey toward 2027 is already underway, and we are resolute in changing the narrative by encouraging citizens to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercise their civic duties,” Oseni emphasized.

Regarding his political future, Oseni hinted at a potential governorship bid, stating, “I am considering succeeding Governor Seyi Makinde, should it be the will of Almighty God and my party, the APC. However, this is not a do-or-die situation; the governorship race will be approached with dialogue and strategic planning, and I will respect the party’s decision.”
